Open for a surprise đź’Ś

Hint: we have extra good news this week

Hi Earthlings! We’ve spent the last week reflecting on all the events we attended last week. There were so many beautiful spaces we shared with our community, exploring action and hope, and where climate sits at the intersection of everything.

Atmos founder and editor-in-chief, Willow Defebaugh, puts it best — “It’s a massive gift and a privilege to be able to come together in spaces like this and see friends and symbionts from around the world you hardly ever get to see in person let alone all in the same place. and it’s so vital.”

This week we’re sharing an upcoming event we think is worth attending, followed by a special edition of Good News Tuesday. Surprise! This week’s newsletter subscribers get three bonus stories.

Earthed Summit: Our Future, Regenerated. A day of inspiring talks, workshops & panels showcasing accessible solutions for nature restoration and community revitalization followed by an afterparty.

Location: The Barbican, EC2Y London
Date: November 11, 2023
Tickets: ÂŁ75.00- ÂŁ400.00

Biden announced the American Climate Corps. The program will hire 20,000 young people in its first year, putting them to work on renewable energy, home electrification, and ecosystem restoration projects, and ensuring a pathway after to good-paying jobs. Indigenous people in Brazil. Brazil’s Supreme Court voted against a controversial time frame proposal that would have stripped Indigenous rights and opened up traditional territories to mining and agribusiness. "Areas occupied by Indigenous people and areas that are linked to the ancestry and tradition of Indigenous peoples have constitutional protection." Mongabay

The EU has new rules on battery recycling. The new regulation requires manufacturers to collect waste lithium-ion batteries for recycling and, in the case of EV, e-bike, and energy storage batteries, incorporate recycled materials into new ones. The rules also push recyclers to reclaim critical resources like lithium. Grist
